Hiking in the green heart of Italy

When the air is honey scented ...

In May the Umbrian countryside is green - it is full of scents and blossoms. And it is a true paradise for hikers.
Walk through silvery olive groves, lush green vineyards, cypress avenues and medieval villages and you will eperience this very special, almost magical atmosphere.

Walking up and down the hills requires a bit of exercise - but along the way there are lots of beautiful spots that offer a good excuse to relax and rest. Because that is what it is all about:  to relax and to enjoy the historic landscapes of Umbria and Tuscany with all senses.

Enjoy with all your senses

On your hiking tours you should also enjoy the culinary delights of Umbria.

Taste the excellent local wines at one of the many romantic wineries or settle down in the soft grass for a picnic with Umbrian specialties. On the menu could be wine, prosciutto, truffle salami (Umbria is famous throughout Italy for its excellent sausages), pecorino cheese, olives and sweet, sunripe tomatoes that still taste like real tomatoes ...

Hidden treasure Umbria

Umbria is smaller and less populated than the famous neighboring region of Tuscany. Umbria surely does not have to hide behind Tuscany, but it is still considered an insider tip. The Umbrian landscapes are varied, from idyllic hills with poppy-flecked fields, olive groves and vineyards around Lake Trasimeno to the dense forests, ravines and rugged rocky mountains reaching over 2,000 m altitude in the Monti Sibillini.

Towns such as Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Assisi, Perugia and Norcia are full of cultural monuments that bear witness to Umbria's ancient history. Picturesque medieval villages are visible from afar, perching on hilltops, mostly surrounded by a city wall. You are invited to stroll through the winding streets and small squares and be taken back to times long past.
